Please read the following letter about the situation:
August 14, 2009Fellow homeowners of Willow Creek, I hope everyone is having a fun summer. As the new school year starts there are many projects that underway in and around our subdivision. The one everyone has been following is the Freedom Parks Trails project and the parking situation it created last year.
I wanted to share with you an email I received from the Parks Director, Melody Sweat. WCHOA has been working very closely with her, the Parks Dept, Silver Lakes HOA and WYSI to alleviate those issues. We expected a parking lot to be constructed on the south end of the park before the beginning of the WYSI Fall 2009 football season, to eliminate the need for off-street parking. Unfortunately, this no longer looks possible due to higher than expected pricing for the project. Therefore, we may encounter the same concerns as last year. We need to work together collectively to help resolve the problems and let the appropriate people "police" the grounds. Please read and understand the schedules of the games so there are no surprises on game days. If you still have concerns that come up please follow Melody's instructions and let the appropriate people know of any problems that are encountered.
I thank you for your patience and understanding, please let me know if you have any further concerns.
Thank you,
Hitesh Patel
WCHOA President
Hello Everyone:I am sorry to have to send this message but need to let everyone know that we are unable to have the parking lot at Freedom Trail Park ready for the beginning of the WYSI Football season. The scope of the project is greatly over what the Park budget had for this project. The City Engineers have worked very hard to bring the project in line but when we sent it out for quotes the quotes have come back high. We went back to work and had the project re-quoted. Unfortunately with the project cost this high state law requires the project go through the formal bidding process. As a result we will not have an on site parking lot for most of the season.
Scott Jordan, acting Police Chief and I had a conference call with Eric Schaeffer, WYSI this morning to address all the possible concerns with on street parking. WYSI and the Westfield Police Department will do everything they can to help eliminate any problems.
As always the Park Department will continue to work with the citizens to make this a win win situation. If you have any concerns or questions please get in touch with me at the numbers below.
