JUNE 2001 NEWSLETTER

Next meeting: Monday, July 16, 7:00 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church located on North Main Street, behind the Town Hall.

ACCESSORY AND TEMPORARY BUILDINGS (MINI BARNS)

Enclosed is another ballot concerning this issue. On the ballot there are two sections. The top half is the explanation of what you are voting on. The bottom half is your ballot.

You have the option on how you wish to respond. The bottom section is the part that will be either mailed to the address on the card which is to be received no later than July 16 OR brought to the July 16 meeting.

The amendment wording that will appear on the ballot is:

"5.4 Accessory and Temporary Buildings. No building of a temporary character may be erected on any Lot, except that for use by the Developer or builder(s) during the construction of a residential building. No trailers, shacks, or outhouses shall be erected or situated on any Lot. A permanent storage shed may be erected upon a Lot only when approved by the Association Architectural Committee in accordance with Paragraph 6.18.

To receive consideration from the Association Architectural Committee, the plans submitted must meet the following MINIMUM requirements. Storage sheds may have a maximum exterior height of 8' at the peak, and no more than 8'x10' in area. Structure must have the same style and color of vinyl siding as the house; same trim color as the house; and the same roof style and color of shingles. The location shall not be in any easement; must meet all local government zoning and setback regulations; and must be behind the back line of the house."

There must be at least 106 "Yes" votes received by the Association by July 16, 2001 to adopt the proposed amendment. One vote per lot is allowed, which is why we require your signature, printed name and address to be placed on the ballot. If this information is not completed, the ballot will not be counted. The reason for this measure is to prevent counterfeit ballots.

At this time, Homeowners must still abide by the current Covenants which do NOT allow for structures to be placed on their property.

OH WHAT A BLAST!!!!!!

A special thank you to the Tim & Amy Gardner family for hosting the 2nd annual Willow Creek Summer Blast Party. Although the party had to be rain-delayed until the next day, there were 75 Willow Creek residents who enjoyed an evening of good food, fun and friendship. Thank you to everyone that helped with planning, food and games! The kids had a super time and all went home with their own bag of treats. Congratulations to Chuck & Jenny Nordin for winning the hanging flower door prize. Hope to see everyone next year!

Ed. Note: Thanks to Deb Harrison and Kyle Alexander for spearheading this great event.

CRIME WATCH

Following our meeting in April and the Crime Watch presentation by Officer Mike Seagrave, you will notice that Crime Watch signs have been posted in the subdivision. Included in this newsletter is the handout that Officer Seagrave distributed. It offers very helpful tips.

DUES

The list of homeowners who have not paid their annual dues is dwindling. HOWEVER, it is time to collect! No more Mr. Nice Guy - we are collecting the dues. Those delinquent in paying dues will be receiving a notice from the Treasurer outlining the legal actions that will be implemented per Paragraph 6.17 of the Covenants. If you have not paid or made arrangements with the Treasurer to pay your dues, a lien will be put on your property.

Gardening Tip: Are birds building nests in your hanging baskets and you don't want them around? Try rolling aluminum foil into balls and place in the basket. This should keep them away.

Daylilies, known as the lazy man's flower, grow well in our clay soil. You can find beautiful and unique varieties at Shield's Gardens, adjacent to the north side of Willow Creek (Phase 4) on Grassy Branch Road.

For 5 weekends, starting Thursday, June 21st and going thru Sunday, July 22nd, Shield's will be open 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. They are available in the Garden at other times by appointment.

Phone (317) 896-3925. For purchases over $80, they add a bonus plant worth up to 10% of your order.

If you bring a friend who is new to their Gardens, you can get an EXTRA 10% worth of plants, or bonus plants totaling 20% of your order. Be sure to introduce your friend to their helpful gardener when you arrive.
